This is Misato Kubo’s first solo exhibition at B GALLERY. Titled “Crossover,” the exhibition explores the concept of intersecting and blending different elements, materials, and styles. Using silk fabrics traditionally employed in kimono, she presents three-dimensional works that resemble “petals.” The flowers blooming throughout the venue invite viewers to rediscover the intimacy between clothing and ourselves in an extraordinary space, creating a fresh sensation appropriate for spring.
“Reflecting the heart in clothing… When we see flowers, we feel the seasons in their form and see the heart of the flower. When we look at things related to clothing, we sense the body and experience a feeling as if projecting the self. This sense of liberation frees the body and mind, allowing us to float between the ordinary and the extraordinary.”
— Misato Kubo
“Fabric, or clothing, is enjoyable when spread out. It is beautiful when hanging. Furthermore, it enriches by wrapping objects and the body. Ms. Kubo’s work moves back and forth among these various states of fabric, stimulating the imagination.”
— Art Director Fumio Kitagawa
