Cross Clothe Redroom(2000)

Cross Clothe explores the fluid relationship between the body and its environment by transforming familiar interior objects into wearable forms—transcending the traditional boundaries of fashion and living.

For example, a curtain, which mediates light and visibility to regulate the boundary between the body and the outside world, becomes a garment when sleeves are added—bringing it closer to the body as clothing. Likewise, a stuffed toy, typically seen as an object of affection, can be unfolded into fabric and reimagined as a wearable item.

In this way, Cross Clothe unites objects that, while sharing the same domestic space, have conventionally served separate functions. By bringing them together on a single piece of fabric, their meanings begin to dissolve, slipping beyond the grasp of conventional social codes. Clothing, then, is liberated—not as a symbol, but as a medium through which the body engages in a direct, tactile dialogue with its surroundings.Size
